From the northern tip of the Okavango delta - east to the Linyanti and the Chobe National Park, sweep south to the sister pans of the Nxai and Makgadikgadi salt pans. In the centre there is the Central Kalahari Game Reserve covering 84% of Botswana, and further south the Kgalagadi Transfrontier Park. Botswana is renowned as a premier wildlife destination. The Okavango Delta is the largest inland delta in the world. Situated in the Moremi game reserve, this remarkable wetland lies like an oasis in the otherwise inhospitable Kalahari basin. Where land and delta meet, a mosaic of water-chanels, grasslands, forests and lagoons provide an extremely rich and diverse habitat for a multitude of birds and animals – including the elusive sitatunga antelope, large numbers of hippo, crocodiles, elephant and buffalo. The Chobe National Park was named after the Chobe river, which forms the northern boundary of the park, whilst to the south it borders onto the Moremi game reserve.
