San Camp Main Tent - Safari holidays

Meercats
Jack's Camp
and its satellite San Camp are located deep in the Kalahari Desert on the edge of the Makgadikgadi Pans, the largest saltpans in the world. Jack's Camp was originally established in the 1962 by one Jack Bousfield, who lived there for many years preceding his unfortunate death in an aircraft accident. The camp has since been completely refurbished and accommodates safari guests in eight stylish tents furnished with Persian rugs, canvas washbasins and chambray sheets. Tents are positioned for picture perfect views of the pans and each has an adjacent shower and flush toilet. The communal areas of the camp are set under a palm grove and the walls and shelves are lined with old maps, photographs and interesting bones – instilling the camp with a unique and classical feel.

San Camp is set right on the edge of the main Makgadikgadi saltpan. It comprises six white canvas tents, each with awe inspiring views onto the saltpans. The tents are simpler in style, and have a private long drop loos and bucket showers.

Activities at Jack's and San Camp are carefully planned to be as informative as they are fun. As well as the usual range of land based game viewing activities, qualified zoologists can explain how the unique desert wildlife have adapted to the dry conditions of the desert, and also visit remote archaeological sites. Walks with bushmen trackers will demonstrate the unique connection between their fascinating culture and the harsh natural environment. Guests can even venture into the impenetrable saltpans on 4WD quad bikes.
