Meno a Kwena Camp, Luxury Safari Holidays in Botswana

Meno a Kwena (Tooth of the Crocodile), offers a traditionally classic tented camp experience, and where each of the seven tents is ideally situated to take in the breathtaking view over the dry Boteti Riverbed and the neighbouring Makgadikgadi National Park. The view from the entire camp high up on white cliffs forms the centrepiece of the Meno A Kwena experience. A waterhole is maintained by the camp to sustain the myriad species that call the area their home.

The wildebeest and zebra migration concentrates along the Boteti during the dry season (May to November), where small pools are the only surface water available to them. Resident and nomadic wildlife includes the lion, impala, kudu, warthog, jackal, and occasionally wild dog, elephant and giraffe. The bird life is excellent along the riverine woodlands of acacia, lead wood and terminalia.

The main area is also tented, and comprises the lounge area, library, bar and kitchen - from where delicious traditional safari meals are prepared. Meals are cooked on the campfire by the chef, and prepared specially for the BBQ and ‘tin box oven’, adding to guests’ authentic safari experience.

Fully serviced accommodation is in mini meru walk-in tents. Comfortable twin or double bedrolls are made up with fresh cotton linen and traditional camping blankets. Each tent is equipped with its own bucket shower and toilet.

Activities include nature walks – all year round - a fascinating feature that focuses on the signs and tracks of wildlife, the plants, birds and insects that play a important role in the lives and behaviour of the larger wildlife species.

Licensed, experienced, and knowledgeable guides lead the safari car day trips into Makgadikgadi and Nxai Pans National Parks all year round. The proximity of Meno A Kwena Tented Camp in a wildlife area close to tribal lands of rural Africans, living in villages and on farms, gives us the opportunity to involve guests in their traditions and culture.
