Chief's Camp is a luxury safari bush lodge and the flagship of The Sanctuary Lodges, it has won various awards over the past few years, including best property in Africa in 2005. Situated on Chief's Island in the exclusive Mombo Concession of the Okavango Delta. The camp has been skilfully integrated into the landscape and holiday guests are frequently able to view game without even leaving camp. There are twelve tented rooms and each has an en-suite bathroom and private deck, all of which are raised on wooden platforms. Shaded under a grove of jackalberry trees, the camp’s open plan living areas are raised on decks and include a bar and lounge, dining pavilion, library, curio shop and swimming pool. There is a beauty therapist on hand from july to October.

The dining experience is a fantastic fusion of Western and African flavours, created with both local and imported ingredients.

 

The Mombo Concession is frequently referred to as the "predator capital of Africa" and the game viewing opportunities here are exceptional. Wild dog, lion, cheetah and leopard are all found in good numbers. The camp has daily excursions in open four-wheel-drive vehicles and quiet mokoro trips (subject to water levels) along the narrow delta channels during the flood season. The enormous numbers of Lion on Chief's Island offer an embarassment of riches for the amateur photographer.

From £658 per person per night in high season.

Includes all meals and game viewing activities.

 

Low season = Jan - Jun and Nov and Dec
