Interaction between a mother giraffe and a pack of Hyenas in the Okavango Delta. The baby giraffe was killed by a leopard and was scared off by the mother before we arrived. Soon the hyenas started circling and calling to one another before moving in to feed on the carcas. Mum defended her dead baby as best she could but in the end the number of hyenas was just to much for her. Little Vumbura/Vumbura Plains Dec 2007.
