Ben grew up in southern Sudan and Kenya, and although his parents cut short an idyllic childhood to move back to the UK, the seeds of an enduring love of Africa were sown. At Imagine Africa, Ben focuses on East Africa, but is just as happy talking about the rest of our destinations too – most of which he’s been to. Apart from an obsession with Kitesurfing, he loves to introducing people to Africa for the first time.
Ben says, “Don't try and do too much, you can always come back"

James was born and raised in deepest darkest Somerset but a job teaching waterskiing in South Africa started his love affair with the Continent and since then his life has revolved around African travel. With a combination of personal travel, educational travel (it is work honest!!) and two years leading overland expeditions in Africa, James has been lucky enough to visit many of the national parks & safari camps in East & Southern Africa. Favourite places include the Namib Desert and high on the “to do list” is Katavi National Park in western Tanzania.
James says, “If you have time, skip a game drive and stay in camp - sometimes the animals come to you"

Alistair’s interest in Africa started with a budget safari from Nairobi to Vic Falls whilst at university. After graduating with a tourism degree and various jobs in the city, he decided to go and work in Africa driving trucks from Uganda to Cape Town. Most of these trucks were full of antipodean tourists and for 2 years he cut his teeth patiently answering their questions whilst gaining a superb knowledge of this special continent. On his return from Africa in 2005 he worked for a large luxury operator before moving back to London to join Imagine Africa in January 2007. With a passion for wildlife as well as daily local life in Africa, Alistair loves all the sights, sounds and smells that Africa has to offer.
Ali says, “Be the first to visit a place”

Rose was riding before she could walk, and was brought up hunting, eventing and playing polo – in between the hunting and eventing season in 2004 she visited South Africa for three months where she caught the bug for the bush and its wildlife. She then started work for Imagine Africa, and developed a passion for remote destinations, as well as developing rather expensive taste! Everywhere she has travelled in Africa, she has also ridden making her the ideal candidate to start our riding safari brand Ride Africa.
Rose says, “Sleep out under the stars or stay in a rustic bush camp”

Belinda grew up in Zimbabwe spending many family holidays in Mozambique. On arrival in the UK for the first time at the age of 19, she suffered severe culture shock but nevertheless loved her time at university in the North of England. Wearing shoes was a definite shock to the system. After a brief spell in the London financial world, Belinda returned to Zimbabwe and found her niche being a safari guide in the Lowveld area (south east) and later in Hwange National Park. After many years of bush wacking, Belinda decided that a social life would not go amiss and hence left her beloved Zimbabwe and found herself at Imagine Africa, surrounded by like-minded people.
Belinda says, "It's not all about luxury, but the experience you have.........a good safari guide will make your trip, and if you return home with a new found interest in birds, or insects and having learnt a whole host of new things about mammals, stars, geology or a different culture, then you have had a true African safari experience, and hopefully have caught the African bug!"

Jen grew up in South Africa spending her family holidays in Durban, the Drakensberg, and the Garden Route. She studied tourism for three years, before working for an African overland tour operator. In 2006 she decided to leave the sunny skies of Jo'burg for the drizzle of London and a year later joined the Imagine Africa team. Jen focuses on Zanzibar and South Africa and her recent travels took her to KwaZulu Natal, Cape Town, along the Garden Route, the Eastern Cape and the Kruger Park. The next place she'd like to visit is Fundu Lagoon on Pemba Island.
Jen says, “On the game viewing side of things – don’t have too high expectations – just go there to enjoy yourself and the good karma you create will mean you’ll end up seeing loads more! Take an interest in the smaller things too!”

At the young age of having just left school, Juliet was so enthralled by the Africa tales she had read about and seen on TV that she decided to go over there and see if were true. A trip that started in Kenya was extended and took her to Uganda, Tanzania, Zanzibar, Zimbabwe, Botswana, Namibia and South Africa. On her return she despairingly went to university but headed back to Africa as many times as she could going to Nigeria and Ghana to explore new parts of this fascinating continent.
Juliet says, “Don’t go to Africa…. If you don’t want to fall in love with it"
