Shompole Lodge
Shompole is situated high on the Nguruman Escarpment near Lake Natron and the Tanzanian border – and is surely the most stylish lodge in Kenya.
A unique and artistically appointed lodge, that uses natural materials, smooth white walls and water to create a fresh and unusual approach to the bush experience – Shompole will appeal the style conscious, but also to anyone looking for luxury, tranquility and an excellent safari experience.
Shompole Lodge has just six rooms – each looking out over the Great Rift Valley and Lake Natron in the distance. All the rooms are en-suite, and are constructed with naturally occurring white quartz stone and pale thatch. With privacy, comfort and relaxation in mind, each room consists of a ‘cool-pool’ and informal sitting area, a bathroom with a view and a specially de signed tent bedroom that includes vast windows and a high-canopied roof.
The main lounge and dining area are built under a high thatch roof overlooking Mount Shompole, and are ideally positioned to make the most of both the incredible view and the cool breeze.
Activities at Shompole are unscheduled and organised according to the preferences of our guests. When you arrive, the manager will find out what you want to do during your stay, and plan a schedule of activities accordingly. The variety of landscape available at Shompole allows for a great range of activities from morning and afternoon game drives, Masai guided bush walks, picnics, sundowner visits to Lake Natron to see the flamingos, night drives, and guided mountain biking.
Guests will also have ample time to relax and enjoy the facilities of the lodge itself – including the services of a resident massage therapist offering a range of treatments.
Shompole Lodge Prices

Getting to Shompole
The best way to get to Shompole is by air – a short light aircraft flight from Nairobi takes 30 minutes. Light aircraft charters can also be easily used to connect Shompole with Amboseli National Park or the Masai Mara.
Shompole can be reached by road from Nairobi. The 3 ½ hour journey takes you down the escarpment and across the floor of the Great Rift Valley, passing Lake Magadi en route to the lodge. Please note that at present, a 4x4 is required for the road beyond Magadi.
