Diving. The Kenya coast is fringed by a dazzling coral reef and has some magnificent dive sites. Due to the indo-pacific current, the ocean off Kenya has a similar array of species to those found around Australia; among them are dolphins, whale shark, manta rays, hammerheads, lionfish, turtles and a myriad of fluorescent reef fish. Almost all the hotels along the coast have in-house scuba diving or access to facilities nearby.

Live-aboard diving can be arranged at Mombasa, Malindi and Lamu, and the Utamaduni Dhow based at Manda Bay Lodge and the Tusitiri Dhow both have scuba diving equipment and compressors on board.

Camel Safaris at Sabuk. Camels offer an excellent vantage point for game viewing. Sitting on a camel you are over twelve feet off the ground, much higher than a 4x4 vehicle and, apart from the odd rumble from your camel’s stomach, quieter too.
