Active safaris in Kenya - ballooning, horse riding, walking

Balloon Safaris in the Masai Mara

A number of lodges in the Masai Mara offer hot air balloon safaris. Balloon safaris are ideally suited to the Masai Mara as the open, treeless, plains allow many of the animals to be seen from the air and, viewed from an altitude of several thousand feet, the savannah scenery is breathtaking.

Balloon Safari in the Masai Mara

Imagine Africa clients Wyn and Charlotte Roberts on a hot air baloon flight above the Masai Mara

Balloon Safaris take off just before dawn so that you are high above the plains in time for sunrise. Flights lasts for approximately one hour drifting wherever the air currents take you.  Once back on terra firma, the flight is celebrated with a glass of champagne and a breakfast in the bush, cooked on the balloons burners.

After breakfast, the rest of the morning is spent game viewing in a 4x4 vehicle, before returning to camp in time for lunch.
