Kenya’s 490 kilometre Indian Ocean coastline is one of the country’s main attractions. It offers a striking combination of Swahili culture, superb palm lined beaches and colourful marine life. Mombasa
Mombasa is the second largest city in Kenya and to its north and south it has some of the finest beaches Africa has to offer. Lamu Archipelago
Lamu Island lies just off the coast of northern Kenya. It has been a trading post between Arabia and India since the 1500’s, buying and selling spices, mangrove poles, ivory and, until the turn of the century, slaves. All this has produced a wonderful and vibrant culture and a unique coastal people known as the Swahili. There are no cars on Lamu, so all transport is on foot, donkey or dhow. More...
