Tana Delta Dune Lodge lies on a remote stretch of the the Kenya coast midway between Malindi and Lamu.  The lodge has an elevated position in the sand dunes at the mouth of the Tana River, offering views out over the Indian Ocean, as well as onto the Tana Delta Wetlands, which are a newly established Conservation Area. 

The lodge's accommodation comprises five castaway-style cottages (one of which has two bedrooms).  Each cottage has its own stunning location offering panoramic views. Far apart for total privacy, the rooms are connected to one another (and the top and bottom dining areas) by stone paths and steps threading steeply through the dunes. Spacious en suite bathrooms offer al fresco showers open to the stars.  There are also two self-catering lodges – Mto Tana and Mulikani.  Both sleep four people in two rooms, and are semi-open offering wonderful views.

Tana Delta Dune Lodge has plenty to offer to the more active guest including fishing in the creek, guided walks, boat trips and sundowners in the estuary as well as excellent game and bird viewing from the lodges private boat. Visits to the local Pokomo tribe are a popular option.  The Pokomo cultivate banana and mango in groves along the banks of the Tana River, and are renowned for their singing and music.  Another interesting cultural experience for guests is the opportunity to meet the Orma, a tribe who follow the rain with their cattle an live in unusual cone shaped thatched huts.

The beach at the lodge stretches for miles in either direction, and slopes gently into the Indian Ocean.  Boat trips, snorkelling, water skiing and numerous beach games are all possible. 

Tana Delta Dune Lodge is a romantic hideaway which does rustic luxury with style – living in the open air has never been so enjoyable!

Price includes all meals, conservation fees, game and bird viewing by boat. 

Water skiing, sea cruises and trips to the visit the Pokoma and Orma tribes are extra – payable locally.

Getting there Tana Delta Dune Lodge can be reached by air from Lamu. As there are is scheduled service, a private charter is required. Tana Delta Dune Lodge can also be reached by road from Malindi which takes approximately two hours.
