Kinondo Kwetu

Kinondo Kwetu means 'Home from Home' and is a private hideaway on the beach of the Indian Ocean. The names certainly fits the bill. It is hosted by the owners (Filip and Ida) who also manage the beach lodge and make you feel part of the establishment.

Kinondo Kwetu is a small, all-inclusive luxury resort which combines lovely food, drink and service with classically styled accommodation and a whole host of land and water based activities.

The emphasis is on peace and tranquility and of freedom and rest where one can feel at home to do as they please when they like. There is more than enough space on the beach and a plethora of swahili style loungers and day beds strewn about the grounds - there is always a quiet spot where one can retreat to after a large lunch.

Kinondo Kwetu is situated on the south coast of Kenya, 1 ½ hours ride south from Mombasa, on the beach of the Indian Ocean. With room for no more than 38 guests, you will always find your own private spot at Kinondo Kwetu, which makes it a very special hideaway for honeymooners.

It is also the perfect place to gather family or fiends for a private celebration or wedding. With two kitchens in separate buildings, the place can easily be divided into two.
 
In the grounds, you find two pools, one of them with a depth that allows training for PADI diving certificate, three horses, and a tennis court. Kinondo Kwetu’s dhow and outriggers are out on the water, waiting to take you sailing.

Kinondo Kwetu and its operation are working in harmony with the village Kinondo and its inhabitants, many of which are working at the hotel. In order to facilitate the life of the villagers we have founded Kinondo Kwetu Foundation.

Every room and cottage has its own personalized character, as it is furnished and decorated with Swahili culture handicraft and antiquities. All double rooms are equipped with king size beds and all rooms with fans and mosquito nets.

Alistair was the last person from this office to visit Kinondo Kwetu.
