Shompole - "Fabulous place. All the write ups, articles and awards cannot prepare you for this place. The rooms are a delight with wonderful views over the bush with Mount Shompole in the distance. You run out of superlatives within a very short time."
"The food was just right with lots of excellent salads at lunch, full English breakfast if needed and masses of fruit. The dinners were good with pleasant wines."
"One evening we drove in to Tanzania to Lake Natran which was amazing. It is a tidal soda lake and we were the only people sitting on the ‘beach’ sipping G&T, watching the flamingos as the sun set."
"I have been fortunate to have travelled and stayed in some of the most luxurious places in the world but the experience of Shompole was the best!"
"However, it is not for everyone because it is built over a hill, there are a lot of steps and the climb/drive up to it is very steep. There are no doors or windows and a few walls. The many different levels in our room made going to the loo in the night interesting, especially as we had to negotiate stepping stones through water to get to the throne! Helen’s shower was a waterfall and the whole place was breathtaking. The spa facilities were very good."
