Hells Gate

Located very close to Lake Naivasha, Hells Gate national park covers a relatively small area of 68 km², but the landscape is impressive and it is one of the few national parks that can be explored on foot. The entrance to the park is marked by Fischer's Tower, a 25 meter tall volcanic pinnacle. The steep Njorowa gorge and Olkaria volcano are well worth a visit. Giraffe, leopard, hartebeest, Burchell’s zebra, Thomson's gazelle, buffalo, eland and impala can be seen grazing on the grasslands.

Hells Gate is also renowned for bird watching, especially the large raptor species – which include Verreaux’s eagle, secretary birds, Egyptian and Ruppell’s griffon vultures, kori bustards and the rare lammergeyer or bearded vulture.
