Longonot

At a height of 2,886 metres, Mt Longonot is the highest of the Rift Valley volcanoes and its distinctive crater, measuring over a kilometre across, can be seen from miles around.

Mount Longonot is a gazetted national park and whilst there is some wildlife to be seen, the main attraction is the steep climb up to the crater ridge and then the walk all the way around it.

The walk takes around four hours and is well worth the effort, with excellent birding, some interesting plants, superb views down into the crater and in the other direction towards Lake Naivasha.
