The tents have en suite bathrooms built from local stone with an outdoor safari shower under the stars. Water is heated over a cedar deadwood fire by each tent and is available in whatever quantity guests need.
Kitich is owned and managed by the charismatic Guilio Bertolli, who is an expert guide, host extraordinaire and an integral part of the Kitich experience. Guilio and his samburu guides lead the walking safaris, which can be either a gentle walk up the valley for an hour or so, or a full day hike with a hamper lunch.
Among the wildlife you may encounter are elephant, buffalo, leopard, lion, colubus monkeys, giant forest hog, greater kudu and waterbuck.
Kitich Camp is not for everyone, but if the idea of spending a few days in a completely unspoilt environment, exploring the bush on foot and staying in a wonderfully authentic safari camp appeals, then you will absolutely love it.
Getting to Kitich Camp
Kitich Camp is only accessible by air. Most visitors arrive on Tropic Air flights from Nanyuki which take 35 minutes and cost approximately £88 per person. Using a private charter you can also fly direct from lodges in the Rift Valley, or even the Masai Mara.
