Samburu & Shaba are neighbouring game reserves situated 325 kms north from Nairobi in the tribal lands of the Samburu people. The bush here is composed of wild acacia scrub and open savannah, cut through by the crocodile and hippo filled Ewaso Nyiro River. As well as elephant, buffalo, cheetah, leopard and lion, Samburu contains several species that are rarely seen elsewhere; Grevy’s zebra, Somali ostrich, Beisa oryx and the long necked gerenuk.
