Tsavo Lodges
Tsavo National Park is the largest in Kenya, occupying a colossal 21,000 km sq. Situated midway between Nairobi and Mombasa, this magnificent park is a sanctuary for a multitude of rare mammals and birds including the largest population of elephants in Kenya. Tsavo is also home to huge buffalo herds, rhino, hippo and antelope, and a whole host of endangered bird and plant life. Four rivers and numerous watering holes ensure fabulous game viewing opportunities throughout the year.
Tsavo’s landscape is diverse and includes majestic volcanic hills, rolling plains and bushy grassland. The western section of the camp is dominated by brick-red soils and bush land, while the more remote eastern section is predominantly a plateau of open thorn county. The sweeping horizons ensure an immense feeling of timelessness and endless space.
The lodges and camps are situated deep within the park. To reach them by road it takes roughly 3 hours from Mombasa and 4 hours from Nairobi. Scheduled flights land 3 times a week at Finch Hatton’s airstrip, about 20 km from the park boundary. Tsavo also has air strips but these are not serviced scheduled flights so charters (which can be expensive) are required.
