Day 1: Arrive Tana
Meet and greet at Ivato airport with English speaking guide who will transfer you for the drive west to Perinet. The 3 hour drive offers first time visitors to Madagascar a gentle introduction to rural life, rice fields, redbrick houses and roadside stalls selling seasonal fruits line the route. Overnight at Vakona Forest Lodge (FB)

Day 2: Analamazaotra Reserve
After breakfast, enjoy a visit of the Analamazaotra reserve with a local guide. The 810 ha reserve protects the largest of all lemurs the Indri Indri, and another11 species of lemurs that the guide will try to find during the visit, it is a great place for bird watching and home for reptiles, invertebrates, and many orchids. Overnight at Vakona Forest Lodge (FB)

Day 3: Mantadia National Park
After an early breakfast, you will be taken into the wilder, neighbouring rainforest of Mantadia National Park. This 10 000 ha rainforest reserve harbours a plethora of very rare animals not found in Analamazaotra park. These include the Diadema Sifaka, Red belied lemur and birds such as the wary Brown Mesite and the Scaly Ground Roller. Drive back to Tana after lunch. Overnight at Tarajava Guest House (HB)

Day 4: Tana - Fort Dauphin – Ifotoka
Fly to Fort Dauphin and transfer by 4x4 vehicle to Lac Anony. After a picnic lunch by the lake shore continue to the southern end of the lake to marvel at the enormous dunes, some 70ft high. There is a good variety of aquatic birdlife in and around the lake, with Flamingos in September/October. Overnight Mandrare River Camp (AI)

Day 5: Ifotaka
This morning visit the Sacred Antandroy forests across the river on foot to hopefully see lemur and many bird species in this spiny forest as well as the tombs of the Antandroy ancestors. After lunch you will drive to a local village to see a traditional ring competition! Finish the day with a night walk and night drive back to the camp looking for Mouse and Sportive lemurs. Day 6: Ifotaka
An early start to the nearby Gallery forest with its excellent Sifaka and Ring Tailed Lemur populations, as well as great birding. Back to camp for a late breakfast and the remainder of the morning at leisure to go bird watching along the river, sit in the hammock and read a book or ask our head guide Roger to find something more energetic to do! Overnight Mandrare River Camp (AI)

Day 7: Fort dauphin - Tana – Diego Suarez – Joffre Ville
After lunch drive back to Fort dauphin airport for your flight to Tana and overnight. Overnight at Tarajava Guest House (HB)

Day 8: Tana – Diego Suarez – Joffre Ville
Fly to Diego Suarez and transfer to the foot of the Amber Mountain National Park. Afternoon walk to discover the 200HA De Fontenay Reserve and night walk to look for the nocturnal Lemurs and the many reptile species including the newly confirmed species of Giant Leaf Tailed Gecko. Overnight Domaine de Fontenay

Day 9: Joffre Ville
Enjoy a full day exploring the Amber Mountain national, it is on of the most visitor – friendly of Madagascar protected areas, with broad trails, fascinating flora and fauna. Two species of lemurs are commonly seen; the Sandford’s Brown Lemur and the Crowned Lemur. Overnight Domaine de Fontenay


Day 10: Joffre Ville
After breakfast, depart with a picnic lunch to the Red Tsingy, It is about an hour drive from Joffre ville on a rough road leading east to the Ankarana. It is a spectacular area of eroded laterite known as the Red tsingy. Enjoy a rewarding night walk around the De Fontenay Reserve which should reveal a lot of nocturnal species before dinner. Overnight Domaine de Fontenay

Day 11: Joffre Ville- Diego- Tana

Transfer back to Diégo for the flight to Tana. Upon arrival, transfer to town and to your hotel. In the afternoon we will visit a local orphanage and refuge for street children, which is a British run project. Overnight at Tarajava Guest House (HB)

Day 12: Tana – Anjajavy
Transfer to the airport for your schedule departure flight to Anjajavy which offers many of highlights and attractions of Madagascar: A protected mangrove, the tsingy, beautiful beaches and within the reserve lemurs and a wide variety of reptiles. Overnight at Anjajavy (FB)

Day 13/14: Anjajavy
The hotel offers free activities , excursions and walk to the tsingy , discover the majestic baobab, and the bay to bay walk along the Anjajavy peninsula. Overnight at Anjajavy (FB)

Day 15: Anjajavy – Tana - UK
Depart in the late morning by Air Hotel flight to Tana. A visit to the Route Digue craft market is available as required. Transfer to the airport for your departure flight out.
