With only eight guest chalets Mbuna Bay offers its visitors peace, tranquillity and first class comfort in an authentic African environment. Beach chalets: Four spacious and luxurious wooden chalets are located right at the sand beach. They have been erected on stilts to cause minimal impact on the environment. Through their large windows and glass fronts all of them offer an unhindered view on the lake and the back country. From the spacious en-suite bathroom, and even standing under the shower, guests have a full view over lake and savannah. Brick Bungalows: Four large traditional brick bungalows are situated about 50m inland amongst bush land and baobab trees. They are arranged around a cosy courtyard and offer the same comfort as the wooden chalets with the exception of an external private shower hidden in the bush under the open sky. Each bungalow has its own stony terrace facing the bush.
Photovoltaic panels and solar water boilers provide all chalets and bush bungalows with hot water and electricity.
Mbuna Bay offers swimming and snorkelling in the crystal clear “aquarium” right from the beach, kayaking and canoeing, trips to the world famous N’nosi Reef (Minos Reef), exploring the village, meeting local people and visiting the Chief or the traditional healer, hiking on lake trails, over rolling hills or even up Mt. Chifuli (alone or guided), bird watching, visiting the lodges community handicraft centre, or just sunbathing on the beach or relaxing under a mango tree with a book from the lodge library.
