Belle Mare Plage Hotel

The Belle Mare Plage Hotel sits in twenty acres of gardens directly behind a fantastic two kilometre stretch of sandy beach. Re-opened in November 2002, the hotel also has two 18-hole championship golf courses which justifiably claim to be the finest courses in the Indian Ocean.

This five star hotel, has a total of 255 rooms, suites and villas offering all that you would expect from a hotel of this standard; air conditioning, television, large bathrooms, sea views and a simple warm décor. A sister hotel to the Prince Maurice, it has an enviable reputation among sports lovers of all kinds, as well as gourmets, families and those after nothing more than a genuinely relaxing interlude in the hands of staff dedicated to providing world class service.

There are four restaurants at the Belle Mare Plage, each with its own unique style and character. The main ‘La Citronelle’ restaurant serves themed dinner buffets, whilst guests can choose to dine à la carte, with a credit allowance, in the beachside restaurant ‘La Spaggia’ or the more formal ‘Blue Penny’ which offers a range of gastronomic delights and an exclusive wine and cigar list. The fourth beachside restaurant is open only for lunch and special lobster dinners at the waters’ edge.

There are three swimming pools, as well as the lagoon which is protected by the coral reef that surrounds the entire island. These sheltered waters are excellent for diving, snorkeling, windsurfing, water-skiing and sailing. The hotel’s Dive Centre is PADI and CMAS affiliated and offers beginner to instructor level courses.

The Belle Mare Plage is also one of the finest and most complete golfing complexes in the Indian Ocean. Two 18-hole championship golf courses – ‘The Legend’ and ‘The Links’ – have spectacular views and golf to challenge both the amateur and professional. They are home to the Mauritius Open and the PGA of Mauritius, and play on both courses is complimentary to guests of the Belle Mare Plage.
