Situated on the far northern tip of Mauritius the Paradise Cove has to be the cosiest five star hotel on the island. The hotel has 67 rooms and suites and following complete renovations in 2003, offers a perfect combination of modern facilities and colourful traditional Mauritian décor – lots of ornately carved wood and full of space and light.

Superbly located next to the pretty fishing village of Cap Malheureux at Anse La Raie and three miles away from the fashionable Grand Baie area, the hotel is built around a secluded crescent shaped beach, lapped by the warm Indian ocean.

Designed by renowned Mauritian architect Maurice Giraud, the hotel encapsulates the elegance of Mauritian style – with stone floors, carved wooden furniture and many original works of art. There are three restaurants serving gourmet cuisine, including one which stands on stilts above the powdery sands of the beach.

The accommodation is divided into deluxe rooms (50 sq. m), junior suites (60 sq. m) and two senior suites (90 sq. m). They are elegantly decorated in various styles and have all the trimmings you would expect including air-conditioning, satellite television, in-room safe and fridge. All rooms have access to a balcony or terrace with views to the turquoise sea or the prize-winning gardens.

During the day, holiday guests can indulge in whatever water-sports take their fancy. Catamaran cruises to the five islets in front of the hotel, water-skiing, snorkeling, tennis (2 floodlit courts), windsurfing, pedalos, sailing and kayaking are all complimentary, whilst for a fee, there is an amazing chance to go on “Safari in a Submarine”, parascending or scuba diving.

The Dive Centre has PADI courses for beginners to advanced – whilst the luxury Cinq Mondes Spa offers massages and beauty treatments.For many however, the focus will be on relaxation – happy to be looked after by the incredibly friendly staff who quietly attend to your every need, slipping fresh towels onto your sun-bed if you summon the energy to use one of the two swimming pools, and asking you at around the same time as you ordered a beer yesterday if you would like one today.

Attentive personal service, delicious cuisine and a fine array of leisure facilities most certainly justify the hotel’s claim to be the ‘ultimate intimate hideaway’.
