There is something about Sugar Beach. It is a large hotel but with its beautifully landscaped gardens, contemporary plantation style architecture and palm lined beach there is a real sense of space. Imagine Africa visited the hotel in November 2010 when it was 90% full which is a great way to see how a hotel copes and feels to clients. It was all positive.

The rooms complement the plantation feel. Each have balconies or terraces and the majority face the sea. Inside the rooms are laid out to give a sense of space with everything you need to ensure you can enjoy the room, are cosy at night and have privacy during the day.

There are two swimming pools, one nominated as the ‘quiet pool’ with plenty of sun loungers and enough length to take some exercise if you feel energetic. The main pool at 2000m³ is huge. With a sloping shallow area it is ideal for children of all ages and, due to its size, it is also surprisingly peaceful in the other areas.

It is a short step from anywhere within the hotel grounds to the beach - a strip of golden sand with a distant view of the dominant mountain of La Morne Peninsula – again plenty of sun loungers and space between to enjoy your own piece of beach paradise.

However if you need a break from sun bathing then Sugar Beach has plenty of top class facilities – 5 bars, 4 restaurants, a kids club, a water sports centre, tennis courts, a fully equipped gym and a spa.

Imagine Africa experts view: Ideal for young children who just want to enjoy the pool as well as for families with older children who can burn energy on the numerous activities on offer. And with the sense of space, parents will be able to relax and enjoy their surroundings.
