Explore Gorongosa Camp, Luxury Safari Holidays in Mozambique

With only four spacious tented suites, Explore Gorongosa is not your average bush camp. Rob and Jos the owner / managers have created a real ‘home from home’ atmosphere, where – as a guest – you’ll be able to relax completely.

Each suite has an alfresco 'en tent' bathroom comprising an eco-loo and a fantastic wash-in-the-wild shower designed to give you privacy and a feeling of freedom all at the same time. Doubles or twin singles are available with snug down duvets, cotton linen and towels of highest quality. One of our main aims in the design of the camp was to have as much of it home-made as possible.

The dining and social area of the camp features an open-air library and lounge, as well as a spacious canvas mess tent for meals when the weather is not being friendly. Dining takes place pretty much anywhere it is requested with the focus on excellent taste and even better company. As well as these communal areas there are hammocks to swing in, trees to climb and a campfire to muse over.

Other interesting things to note about Explore Gorongosa:

Gorongosa Sky Beds. If you have the time – i.e. a stay of 4 nights or more – then you could also spend a night or two out and about using a light fly-camp sited on secret big-tree-covered spots around our exclusive operating area within the Park.

Two night Mount Gorongosa trips. Mount Gorongosa is in the north of Gorongosa national park. It is remote, and has been left untouched for the past 50 years, meaning there is an incredible diversity of plant, animal and birdlife. Contact us to ask for more info...

Combination Safari and Beach holidays. There are now direct flights 3 days a week from Gorongosa direct to the Bazaruto Archipelago – which means you can very easily (and without breaking the bank) add on a week on the beach after your safari.

And finally the Wildlife.... lest you be thinking... this is an emerging wildlife area, surely the game viewing cannot be that good. Think again! The full cast of Africa’s big game are here, and on a 3 day stay in Gorongosa you should see just as much as you would in other wildlife areas. Where Gorongosa comes into its own (for the time being at least) is that you’ll not bump into other people. That will change in the next few years, as all big names in the safari world eye up the park, but for the time being you can have it all to yourself by staying at Explore Gorongosa Camp!
