Pomene Lodge is located on the thin finger of land between the Indian Ocean and the mainland coast. The position is spectacular and makes for a wonderfully remote and idyllic beach lodge.

The lodge is approximately half way between Vilanculos and Inhambane and has 10 chalets which are set on stilts at the waters edge. The chalets are spacious, each with a veranda overlooking the sea, and a large en suite bathroom. There are also 3 much larger self catering chalets, these sleep between four and eigher persons, and are popular with visitors arriving on a self drive holiday.

Pomene Lodge’s communal areas include an indoor and open deck restaurant, a well stocked bar, a large swimming pool, as well as a TV and games room and a shop for basic essentials and souvenirs.

Activities include scuba diving (there is a fully equipped PADI dive centre), catamaran trips, deep sea fishing, dhow trips, horse riding, quad bikes, and a number of other watersports.

Getting there
The lodge is situated approximately 200km north of Inhmbane and 170km south of Vilanculos. Most visitors fly into Inhambane, and we will then arrange a transfer up to the lodge. There is an airstrip at Pomene, but for the time being there are no scheduled flights in and out, only private charters.

We can also arrange road transfers down from Vilanculos (circa 2 hours) or provide detailed driving directions for anyone on a self drive trip (a 4x4 is needed).
