Ponta do Ouro
The small village of Ponta do Ouro lies at the far south of Mozambique, very close to the border with South Africa. The area is very undeveloped except for a couple of beach lodges and diving centres. The beach at Ponta do Ouro is ideal for swimming, and there are five good dive sites – where lucky divers have a chance of seeing kingfish, zambezis, hammerheads, barracuda and potato bass. However Ponta do Ouro is best known for its dolphins. It is one of the most dependable places in Africa to swim with dolphins. The best places to stay are Ponta Mamoli or in basic beach chalets at Dolphin Encountours, who lead trips to swim with the dolphins.
