Caprivi Strip

The Caprivi Strip is a narrow strip of land in the far northeast of Namibia, about 400 kilometres long. Germany exchanged the area with the United Kingdom for Zanzibar in 1890 and it is largely unexplored by tourists today.

One of the main attractions of the strip is the prolific birdlife with over 70% of Namibia’s birds. Many of the birds recorded here are endemic to this area.

Other activities include exploring the various rivers, providing some great fishing and excellent game viewing with good regular sightings of the elusive Wild Dog.

Victoria Falls and Chobe National Park are just a couple of popular destinations that are easily accessible from the Caprivi Strip and a well-linked itinerary combines all three.

There are numerous lodges in the Caprivi Strip that provide luxury standards of accommodation and are excellent hideaways at the end or beginning of your holiday.

Lianshulu Lodge, in the East Caprivi overlooks the pristine Kwando River and is situated on a private concession inside the Mudumu National Park.

Impalila Island Lodge, situated at the confluence the Chobe and Zambezi rivers at the place where four countries meet.

Susuwe Island Lodge. Relaxation, privacy and comfort are a high priority here. Susuwe Island Lodge is built to incorporate the riverine forest.

Ntwala Island Lodge. Small and intimate, each room has access to a private plunge pool fringed by white sand and a viewing deck, the lodge is only 80km upstream from the Victoria Falls.
