All meals and drinks are served in a tented lounge area with a magnificent view of the Etendeka Mountains. Each of the ten walk-in, shaded tents are provided with two beds, linen, towels wash basin, a bush shower with hot and cold water, a flush toilet and electric light. Water is of high quality, but in short supply so laundry is not done at the camp.
Visit Etendeka as part of our exclusive 3 night itinerary:
Day 1: Arrive at Etendeka after a scenic transfer. Introduction to the environment on foot. As the sun starts to set, enjoy a drink overlooking this magnificent landscape, appreciate the absolute silence and isolation of the location. You can then return to camp to enjoy a hot bucket shower under big Namibian skies. Your evening is spent watching your guides cook a delicious supper over an open fire and hear the call of nocturnal creatures including hyena, jackal and on still nights, the low call of lions.
Day 2: On your first morning after awakening to blissful silence and a hearty breakfast, you join your guide for your first major foray into this iconic wilderness. The region is famed for desert adapted mega fauna like elephant and black rhino. Return to the camp for lunch. Meet again at 4pm for tea and cake before heading out on the afternoon wilderness activity in search of any game moving again after their midday inactivity.
Day 3: Your morning drive will take you up steep and rugged 4wd trails to enjoy unbelievable elevated views. This is one of the few locations in the area where you can access the mountain tops by vehicle. Sitting on smooth boulders with birds of prey dancing across thermals and wind currents is something everyone should witness. Many of Namibia's endemic birds occur here, such as the Herero Chat, Monteiro's Hornbill, Rüppell's Korhaan and Damara Rockrunner.
Day 4: On your final morning after another good breakfast you will be transferred back to the airstrip or to your vehicle.
