Depart from Windhoek in a northerly direction to Hobatere Lodge. Visit to the hydro-electric power station at Ruacana on the Kunene River and continue to the magical Epupa Falls. Cross the renowned van Zyl’s Pass. Meet the Ovahimbas and get acquainted with their ancient customs and way of life. Marvel at the wild, haunting beauty of the Marien River- and Hartmann Valleys. You will explore the area of the Hartmann Valley. The return journey passes the eastern border of the Skeleton Coast, via the Hoarusib and Hoanib Rivers to Palmwag Lodge. Enjoy camping next to a crackling campfire and absorb the sounds of the night. Return to Swakopmund via Twyfelfontein and the Burnt Mountain.

Depart Palmwag Lodge into central Kaokoland, over the notorious van Zyl’s Pass into the Marien River Valley. Meet the Ovahimba and get acquainted with their ancient customs and traditional way of life. Explore the Hartmann Valley during your two nights’ stay at the luxurious Serra Cafema Camp. Depart from Palmwag Lodge via Sesfontein to a number of Ovahimba settlements in the Kaokoland and to the Epupa Waterfalls on the mighty Kunene River. Enjoy overnight camping on the banks of the magical waterfalls and day time walks to eplore the surroundings. Return to Palmwag Lodge on day four via Fort Sesfontein.

The next three days will be spent tracking down the famous desert elephant as well as the endangered black rhino in the 5000 km² private concession area of Palmwag Lodge. Your return journey takes you through Fort Sesfontein towards Palmwag Lodge to overnight and relax after these breathtaking experiences.

Experience the nomadic way of life of the Ovahimba and enjoy three overnight stays in the Hoarusib River. A chance meeting with the desert elephant in the Hoanib River will be the definite highlight of your day. Spend a night under starry skies, close to the elephant. Return trip to Palmwag Lodge via Fort Sesfontein and surroundings
