Namibia Family Self-drive

 

Self drive family holiday in one of the most beautiful and isolated spots on the planet. This self-drive itinerary also combines an excellent 3 day guided wilderness experience as well as some game viewing in the world famous Etosha National Park. 


Day 1
Check in at London Heathrow for your overnight flight to Johannesburg.

Days 2-3
On arrival into Johannesburg, you will catch a connecting flight to Windhoek International Airport. Pick up your hire car (Nissan xtrail 4 x 4) and head off to Frans Indongo Lodge. A great place to start where the whole family can get up close and personal with some of Namibia's favourite cat - The Cheetah. Stay here for 2 nights in the family unit with dinner and breakfast included.

Days 4-5
Head north to the eastern side of the famous Etosha National Park and stay at the new Mushara Bush Camp. Designed with kids specifically in mind you can have guided drives in the private concession or in the park itself. For the younger children special 'fun drives' are organized where game viewing is mixed with face painting as well as various other activities to keep the young ones interested. You are here with all meals and game activities for 2 nights in double tents.

Days 6-7
Drive west into the park and head for Okaukuejo rest camp which is actually in the park itself. Enjoy the facilities that this rest camp offers from its swimming pool to its flood lit watering hole. Stay here for 2 nights in double chalets with breakfast included.

Day 8
Drive south into Damaraland and stay the night at Palmwag Lodge with dinner and breakfast included in a family unit. Superb scenery.

Days 9 -11 
This morning you will be taken on a fully guided, fully catered safari ‘On the Hunt for Dessert Elephants’. You are on safari for 2 nights and 3 days in 2 double tents, you spend your last night back at Palmwag Lodge in a family unit.

Days 12-13
Drive down along the Skeleton Coast and the Cape Cross Seal Colony and into Swakopmund where you will be staying for the next 2 nights at The Beach Lodge in a luxury family room with breakfast included. There are plenty of activities to keep all of you occupied.

Days 14-15
Your last stop in Namibia is Sossusvlei. Drive down to The Namib Desert and stay 2 nights at the Desert Homestead in 2 double rooms with dinner and breakfast included. Make sure you organize a sunrise walk to the dunes for stunning colours and a visit to Deadvlei and Sesriem Canyon.

Day 16
Early today head back to Windhoek International Airport for your flight for Johannesburg where you will connect to your international flight to London.

Day 17
Arrive early morning into London Heathrow.
