Ten Day Namibia Explorer
This safari combines elements of the Northern Adventure and the Southern Swing. It includes all of Namibia's most stunning regions including the Etosha National Park, the Damaraland Desert, Fish River Canyon and Sossusvlei . While this is a largely camping based safari, there are also 2 accommodated nights.
Day 1 Leave Windhoek in the morning and travel north, stopping at small towns en route (approx 3hrs 30mins). Arrive at Okonjima in afternoon and set up camp. Tour the Africat Foundation and visit cheetahs currently going through its rehabilition programme. Return to camp for dinner under the stars. Continue driving north, stop at Lake Otjikoto, Namibia's largest natural lake. Arrive in time for lunch at Namutoni Camp in Etosha National Park. Relax in the shade then head out for game drive in late afternoon. Dinner at camp, then continue to observe wildlife at Namutoni's floodlit watering hole. Day 3 Head south for the beautiful desert region of Damaraland. Visit the capital town of Khorixas, the Petrified Forest geological site, and the ancient Bushman rock engravings at Twyfelfontien. Continue deeper into the desert to camp in the shadow the Brandberg Mountain, Namibia's highest mountain. Day 6 Day 7 Free day to explore the shops and markets of Swakopmund. Alternatively, various exciting activites can be arranged (not included in tour price). These include flights over the desert, quad biking and sky diving. Dinner this evening is not included in tour price. Drive south to the marine lagoon south of Walvis Bay. Here you can see a vast array of birdlife including flamingos. Drive to the mountain desert with its breathtaking canyons and passes. Make our way down to the dunes of Sesriem to watch the sunset before setting up camp. Travel back to Windhoek over the mountains and arrive back at about 3pm where you will be dropped at your accommodation.
ITINERARY

Day 2

Leave early for a full day's game driving through Etosha. Stop for lunch at Halali camp where you can enjoy the swimming pool and relax at the bar. Drive to Okaukuejo Camp which is famous for its watering hole and continue game viewing. Spend night at Okaukuejo.
Day 4
Begin journey south and make a short stop at the small town of Kamanjab before spending the afternoon with the Himba Tribe in Oase village. Here you will experience genuine Himba culture and traditions, with the help of a guide to translate. Stay overnight at Oase-Himba Village Camp.
Day 5

Hike 'into' the mountain to see the world famous 'White Lady' rock paintings. Then head for the Skeleton Coast via the town of Uis. Visit the seal colony at Cape Cross and then continue to the seaside town of Swakopmund, arriving late afternoon. In the evening there is the opportunity to dine with your group at a local restaurant (excluded from tour price). Spend the night in chalet accommodation in Swakopmund.


Day 8

Day 9
Wake in time to watch the sunrise, then drive further into the desert for breakfast in the dunes. Walk 5km through the dunes to Sossusvlei, Spend morning exploring Sossusvlei, then return to Sesriem for lunch. Later, take a short excursion to the Sesriem Canyon. Camp at Sesriem.
