Day1
Depart London Heathrow to Frankfurt. Connect on to the overnight Air Namibia flight to Windhoek. Day 2
On arrival in to Windhoek, collect your hire car and drive to the Olive Exclusive to stay for one night on a bed and breakfast basis. Relax and recover from your flight at Windhoek’s first ultra-luxury boutique hotel. Why not spend the evening at the famous Joe’s Bar nearby. This famous restaurant offers a good range of steaks and is popular with locals and tourists alike.
Day 3
Today you drive to Desert Homestead in Sossusvlei to stay on a dinner, bed and breakfast basis, including activities. This evening you’ll take a short walk or horseback safari to a fantastic sundowner point overlooking the desert plains and out towards the famous red dunes of Sossusvlei.
Day 4
Early this morning is your guided excursion to see the world’s largest sand dunes at Sossusvlei. Here you’ll learn all about the formation of these towering dunes, the wildlife that inhabits them and how challenging walking up them can be!
After a light snack in the desert, you return to Desert Homestead and hit the road in time to make your next destination – Wolwedans Dune Lodge, where you stay for 2 nights on a full board basis including activities. This evening, you take a short game drive to a fantastic sundowner viewpoint overlooking the aptly named “Sunset Boulevard”!
Day 5
Today you’ll have a full day of activities, which could include a walking safari, a dune safari and a game drive. There’ll also be time to learn all about the area’s mysterious “Fairy Circles”, take a dip in the pool or watch the nearby waterhole.
Day 6
Today is a long drive to Swakopmund where you stay at Central Guesthouse for 2 nights on a bed and breakfast basis. Along the way, take in the changes in scenery which include desert plains, sparse mopane woodland and stunning mountain passes.
Day 7
Today you have a free day to choose from a variety of activities, including a dolphin boat excursion, quad biking through the sand dunes, sea kayaking, fishing, skydiving, sand boarding... the list goes on! Day 8
Depart this morning for Damaraland, where you stay at Mowani Mountain Camp for 2 nights on a dinner, bed and breakfast basis including activities.
Day 9
An early start this morning on your desert-adapted elephant excursion. You’ll be searching for these famous elephants on a full morning of game driving. After returning to camp and freshening up, you’ll take a short drive to Twyfelfontein to see the rock engravings, organ pipes and Black Mountain.
Day 10
This morning, you have a short drive to meet your transfer to Etendeka Mountain Camp where you stay for 2 nights on a full board basis including activities. This afternoon you take a game drive before heading out for a short walk to watch the sun go down over this stunning area of wilderness.
Day 11
Today is a full day of activities at Etendeka. This will include a walking safari and game drive. With some luck, you may see elephant, giraffe and many varieties of antelope, including a vast array of desert vegetation.
Day 12
This morning you make your way to Ongava Tented Camp where you will stay for 2 nights on a full board basis including activities. In the afternoon, your guide will take you on a game drive of this 30,000 hectare reserve that borders Etosha National Park. Ongava translates as rhino in the local language, and with any luck you may see rhino on your game drive or at the spot lit water hole at camp.
Day 13
Today is a full day of game drives. The morning will be spent in the Okaukuejo area of the Etosha National Park and the afternoon in the Ongava Reserve, which is mainly made up of mopane woodland and some small open savannah areas. Be sure to check out if any animals triggered the cameras last night at the water hole near camp. Rhino and lion are often caught on camera here.
Day 14
Today you will drive through Etosha National Park through to Mushara Bush Camp, where you stay for 1 night on a dinner, bed and breakfast basis. Etosha National Park is a world-famous wildlife reserve with a vast shallow pan that was once a lake the size of Holland. Spend your day staking out water holes and making your way across the park.
Day 15
After breakfast you will make your way to Okonjima Main Camp – home of the Africat Foundation. You stay here for one night on a dinner, bed and breakfast basis with activities included. This afternoon, choose from a variety of activities: leopard, cheetah, hyena or wild dog tracking. After dinner, you may also have the opportunity to go on a night game drive or stake out a nearby water hole from a hide. Fall asleep to the sound of lions in the nearby enclosure!
Day 16
This morning is an early start to see the wildlife at its most active. After your morning excursion, you can freshen up before driving on to Windhoek for your flight departing this evening to London via Frankfurt. Be sure to stop in Windhoek en-route to grab some souvenirs from the local craft market.
