Namib Naukluft

The Namib Naukluft National Park is one of the largest in Africa and the sheer size and scale of its desert formations are truly remarkable. Composed of four main conservation areas (the Namib Desert, the Naukluft, the bird lagoon at Sandwich Harbour and the dune fields of Sossusvlei), this harsh desert environment has some fascinating wildlife including gemsbok, ostrich, springbok, bat eared foxes and the rare aardwolf.

Sossusvlei lies in the heart of the Namib Desert and is home to the world’s tallest sand dunes, some of which tower over 300 metres high. Watching the changing mood and colours at sunrise and sunset is one of Namibia’s highlights, as is climbing them.
