Zebra River Lodge is an old farmhouse, situated in a 12,500 hectare farmstead of dramatic scenery deep in the Tsaris Mountains of southern Namibia. A paradise for geologists, archaeologists, hikers and birders as well as those just seeking peace and quiet, Zebra River Lodge has 13 units with flag-stone floors and stone facades – very much in keeping with the local surroundings.

Each unit has a veranda and en-suite bathroom facilities as well as a very homely feel to it. Children of all ages are welcome at the lodge and a baby-sitting service is available.

The lodge’s main attraction is hiking over the endless plateaus and into deep canyons. Here you’ll discover an abundance of birds and antelopes as well at the mountain zebras.

Detailed maps, directions and packed lunches are provided for walks, which can last anything from 1 hour to a full day.

The perfect end to a hike would be jumping in to the large pool or relaxing in the beautifully maintained gardens before heading up to a sundowner point that provides great vistas over the lodge and its surrounding mountains.

The lodge’s waterhole attracts a variety of wildlife, including mountain zebra, kudu, klipspringer, steenbok and warthog, this is without mentioning the prolific birdlife numbering more than 140 different species.

Excursions to Sossusvlei and a wine tour on a neighbouring farm can be arranged on request.

New owners Peter and Elke have renovated the lodge extensively over the past few years, making this the perfect escape for hikers, birders and those with a desire to relax in the peace and quiet of the Namibian desert.
