Raised up on stilts and overlooking the estuary of the Swakop river, this quirky little place feels relatively remote and yet is still within walking distance of the old town centre.

From the parking lot one quickly gets out onto boardwalks above the reeds of the riverbed. The first stilted building contains the public area and is both rather funky and homely at the same time.

Further out along the network of boardwalks are 11 rooms, similarly in style and each featuring small private balconies with view out over dunes, the river valley or the ocean. Two of the units are very nice and much larger two-storey suites.

The Stiltz is surely the most interesting accommodation in the town and perhaps the best suited to fit into a safari-type trip. If that does not take your breath away, the architecture of these wooden bungalows built on stilts will.

Each private bungalow has been attended to in the finest detail, interlinked by wooden walkways to the others and to the main dining bungalow. You will feel in a different space, yet you are only minutes away from the charming town centre with plentiful restaurants, loads of activities and all the amenities you could wish for.
