Gorilla & Primate Tracking
Primates in Africa are close to extinction.

There are only about 300 mountain gorillas living in the Parc National des Volcans. This is sadly only half of the 600 gorillas which still survive in the world.
Coming face to face with a mountain gorilla is one of the finest and most memorable wildlife experiences today. In groups of no more than 8, you visit the gorillas’ habitat and for one hour, you spend time with these primates in their own environment. You are guaranteed to be blown away by their day to day antics and their likeness to humans.
The gorilla families that are tracked are semi-humanized and communicate with the guide showing their ease around humans, meaning that most groups come within a few metres of our distant relations, without any barriers. Thus creating an exciting once in a lifetime experience.
Tracking the gorillas through the thick undergrowth can be a strenuous task, albeit in the end, a rewarding one. As the name suggests, there can be a lot of steep gradients to conquer. Led by a park ranger, the actual trek to the gorillas’ resting place can be several hours or it can be just 30 minutes. We therefore suggest that people are relatively fit.

The Parc National des Volcans also offers the wonderful opportunity to see the endangered golden monkey's, who are so boisterous you will get incredibly close to them!
There are two troups - Kabatwa, which are located close to Parc Headquarters and the Musanga who are near Karisimbi, which is a longer trek but ensures incredible pictures!

The gorillas are found in the Nyungwe Forest National Park, which allows you to see primates in different surroundings and creates the chance to appreciate the incredible country Rwanda is... and the opportunities that only this country has to offer.
