Highlights of Rwanda

Rwanda is on the move and starting to catch up with their more advanced neighbours in
Uganda and Tanzania. There are many things to do in Rwanda, each which offer different experiences and you will get a true feeling of Africa.

As yet, it is completely unspoilt and the typical style of accommodation is fast becoming a combination of either fairly basic with adequate facilities, offering a bed, a hot shower and a hearty meal or the more expensive style 'eco-lodge'  that offers the same but at a slightly better standard, or the more luxurious accommodation, with breathtaking views.

Unlike other African destinations, the highlights of Rwanda are determined by what's on offer in terms of activities or wildlife, as opposed to what lodge is there - as this can happen in some areas of different countries. Rwanda and its lodges will soon be the fastest growing market in East Africa for tourism.... which, before this happens, could make it the perfect place to go.

Akagera National Park - Imagine Africa
Lake Kivu - Imagine Africa

The area to head towards when you want to see the last gorillas that exist. The style of accommodation in Parc National des Volcans varies so much, that it does not entirely rely on your budget, to go here. There is basic to luxurious accommodation to choose from.

Nyungwe Forest National Park
In the south west of Rwanda, Nyungwe Forest National Park is a wonderful place to head towards if you would like to enjoy the simple wildlife and environment, which Rwanda has to offer. There are chimpanzees and colobus monkies and hundreds of bird and tree species, so there are long and tempting forest walks for those this appeals to.

Akagera National Park
Akagera National Park in the north east of Rwanda, offers the most untouched and undamaged environment in this part of the world. It is the most simple place to enjoy the true wildlife in Rwanda and will only remain this way for so long.

Lake Kivu
This was recently taken over by The Serena Chain and offers stunning lakeside accommodation complemented by a white sandy beach.
