La Digue
La Digue is the fourth largest island in this beautiful archipelago and is truly untouched by the passage of time. World renowned for its unique granite formations that cascade down to deserted coves, La Digue encapsulates the essence of an unspoilt tropical island. Stunning coral, white beaches and coves contrast with tropical forests and craggy mountains. The island’s unique beauty ensures that it is a firm favourite with photographers and film makers alike.
Ox carts and bicycles are the most popular form of transport as there are very few cars on the island. This ensures the feeling of timelessness and the relaxed pace of life that the island is famous for. The island is home to a multitude of wildlife including the last group of black parrots living in the wild and an abundance of colourful marine life that inhabits the adjacent coral reefs.
The island is situated a short distance from Praslin but cannot be reached by plane. Instead, a 20-minute boat ride from Praslin is required.
La Digue Island Lodge is the main hotel on the island and offers a wide variety of accommodation including a colonial house, 35 rustic thatched chalets and 60 other spacious rooms. More…
