Praslin Island

Beautiful Praslin is the second largest island in the Seychelles archipelago and is home to glorious golden beaches, shady valleys and ancient palm forests.  More remote than the main island of Mahé, Praslin is a haven of peace and serenity.  Many rare bird and lizard species can be found here as well as vanilla orchids and the unique coco-de-mer.  A notable place of interest is the world-renowned Vallée de Mai, a dense ancient forest and a designated World Heritage Site. 

 

The Côte d’Or, also known as Anse Volbert, boasts stunning beaches and excellent snorkelling.  Côte d’Or is relatively busy by Seychelles’ standards and the cluster of guest houses, restaurants, souvenir shops and boat operators ensure a bustling atmosphere.  More peaceful places of interest include the idyllic villages of Baie Ste Anne, and Grande Anse.  Just off the coast of Praslin lies the picturesque Curieuse Island (“The Red Island”) which is at the centre of a Marine National Park.

Praslin is easily accessible by air – the flight from Mahé takes just 15 minutes. Alternatively visitors can catch a fast-paced catamaran from the main island, or arrive at a more relaxed pace by schooner.
