Welgelegen, which means ‘well placed’ in Dutch, comprises two elegant turn of the century houses situated in a quiet suburb at the foot of Table Mountain. The buildings that make up the property have been lovingly restored to create a stylish, spacious and eclectically decorated boutique hotel.

Accommodation is in 12 en-suite rooms, divided into standard, deluxe and superior categories. All rooms are individually furnished with earthy neutral tones and splashes of both African chic and classic bohemia.

The emphasis is on comfort...from the candles, the natural Rooibos bath products and the towelling dressing gowns in each bathroom, to the home-made biscuits, complimentary port and huge inviting armchairs in each room.

Every room has it’s own charm, most have balconies offering views of Table Mountain, Signal Hill or the patio below. One room has a travertine surround bath in the room complete with open fire-place, another has it’s own private garden and lily pond!

 

Welgelegen is within easy walking distance of bustling Kloof Street which is bursting with many of Cape Town’s finest restaurants and shops.  The National Museum & Art Gallery, Company Gardens, Green Market Square and the Parliament Buildings are all nearby.

A short drive will take you to Table Mountain Cableway, the beaches at Camps Bay and Clifton, the Malay Quarter, the Victoria & Alfred Waterfront and the Kirstenbosch Botanical Gardens.
