Tsala Treetops
Tsala Treetops is a spectacular tree lodge midway between Plettenberg Bay and Knysna. In the local dialect Tsala means ‘elevated resting place', a fitting description of this luxurious, and utterly unique lodge which perches high above the forest canopy. Raised wooden walkways meander through the trees to link the main lodge, with its congenial lounges, library and dining rooms, to the ten stunningly designed private suites.
Blending traditional craftsmanship with modern luxuries, each comprises a sitting room, bedroom and sumptuous bathroom complete with a huge freestanding oval bath, and a private ‘infinity edge' pool that appears to flow straight into the forest.
In the vaulted ceilings of the restaurant, Eastern and European flavours complement local African specialities, all served with a fine selection of vintage wines and impressive views out over the deep green hues of the forest.
Other services offered at Tsala Treetops include massages in your suite, horse riding and golf nearby. Further afield the world class beaches of Plettenberg Bay provide opportunities for surfing, picnics on the beach, diving and dolphin and whale watching – all of which can be arranged by the lodge. In the other direction picturesque Knysna has some good boutique shopping and some very good restaurants.
