The Ant Collection

 

Situated in the Malaria Free Waterberg Region of South Africa, 3 hours north of Johannesburg, lies the private game reserves of the Ant Collection. Offering two luxurious bush home experiences, the owners Ant & Tessa, aim to provide a uniquely flexible safari, a wide choice of activities & the perfect place to unwind.

 

Ant’s Nest is the original homestead, recently renovated, consisting of 5 en suite bedrooms, landscaped gardens and a large swimming pool. Ant's Nest operates generally on an exclusive basis offering guests a very personal and flexible bush experience. 

Ant’s Hill opened three years ago and was created with a rustic but fun feel – stone, wild olive, and brightly coloured fabrics to name but a few. Situated on the edge of a gorge with wonderful views across the Waterberg, Ant’s Hill has 6 bedrooms, sunken baths, waterfall showers and an infinity pool cascading over the lip of the gorge. 

 

The private reserves boast over 40 species of game including the rare sable antelope, nyala, oryx, eland, giraffe, buffalo, white rhino and well over 300 species of resident and migrant birds.

 The Ant Collection activities include horse back safaris, guided safari walk, game drives in 4x4 vehicles, mountain biking and rock painting excursions.

Families... Due to the relaxed and informal atmosphere, Ant’s Nest and Ant’s Hill are ideal for families with kids of all ages. While the activities keep all well entertained you will learn a great deal about wildlife, gaining inspiration to last a lifetime. Both lodges have various facilities ideal for kids, such as the heated swimming pool, a trampoline, sand pits, a badminton & volley ball net with a selection of toys and books. Children are welcome to join their parents for dinner.  Alternatively, special suppers or meal times can be arranged. There is a selection of wonderful ponies catering to both the novice and experienced child rider. Beginners will be led by a competent guide and riding lessons are also available.

Ant Collection Horse Riding 

The Ant collection specialize in riding safaris and both Ant’s Nest and Ant’s Hill offer the opportunity for some of the greatest game viewing in the African bush – from horseback. They cater for riders of all abilities and have fit, reliable and responsive horses, providing a choice for both the professional rider and the absolute beginner.
