Arriving into Cape Town Airport, collect your hire car and head straight for Table Mountain and the city below (20 mins). Stay for three nights at Cascades on 52 or Kensington Place, b&b.
Day 2&3
Explore Cape Town and the Cape Peninsula. Highlights include the Cape of Good Hope, Robben Island, hiking or taking the cable car up Table Mountain and visiting the V & A Waterfront. If you are adventurous you can abseil on Table Mountain, skydive over the city or kitesurf in Table Bay.
Day 4
Drive to Franschoek (45 mins) in the Winelands - the food capital of South Africa. This beautiful village boasts numerous award winning restaurants and wine farms and is close to the Winelands towns of Stellenbosch and Paarl. Stay for two nights at Cathbert Country Inn or Le Quartier Francais, b&b.
Day 5
Full day to relax in the spectacular scenery, tour a working vineyard, do some wine tasting, stroll around the villages and enjoy the superb food.
Day 6
Taking the scenic R62 route, drive to Montagu for lunch (1hr 30mins) and then onwards to Oudtshoorn in the Little Karoo, the heart of the ostrich farming industry (2hrs). Here you can visit the world famous Cango Caves, tour working ostrich and crocodile farms, and see the century old feather palaces. Overnight at Thorntree Country House or Rosenhof Country House. (b&b).
Day 7
Drop down the stunning Outeniqua Pass to the coastal town of George and continue east to Knysna for lunch overlooking the lagoon (1hr 30mins). After lunch, drive to Plettenberg Bay (35mins) and stay for 3 nights at Periwinkle Guesthouse or Hog Hollow Country Lodge, b&b.
Day 8&9
Time to explore the coastal region around Plettenberg Bay and Knysna. You can also take time to explore the stunning inland areas around the Tsitsikamma and Outeniqua mountains, and Storms River. These areas offer a wide range of activities from relaxing walks to the world's highest bungee jumps off the Blauwkrans Bridge.
Day 10
Drive to Addo (2hrs 30mins) and stay overnight at Woodall Country House just outside Addo Elephant Park. After lunch, take a 4WD game drive in the national park. (b&b).
Day 11&12
Continue to the Amakhala Game Reserve (1hr) which offers stunning game viewing in the malaria free Eastern Cape. Staying 2 nights at either Woodbury Lodge or the more luxurious Bush Lodge, enjoy morning and afternoon game drives and other activities including canoe safaris and game walks. (f/b including all meals & activities).
Day 13
After the morning game drive and lunch, drive to Port Elizabeth (1hr 30mins) to drop off your hire car at the airport and fly, via Johannesburg, back to London.
