Karima Nubian Rest-house, Sudan

Karima, Sudan
Karima is a small town located on the right bank of the Nile, south of the 4th Cataract and close to the famous archaeological site at the foot of Jebel Barkal – the holy mountain of the old Egyptian and Nubian Pharaohs.

Situated within a large walled enclosure, the Karima rest-house is a charming small hotel built in the typical Nubian style with ornate domes and arches, and different Nubian doors for each room. There are 10 rooms in total, all of which have a private bathroom and a pleasant veranda. The décor and finishing are a mixture of European and Arabic, providing a pleasant and rustic atmosphere.

The central part of the rest-house has a reception area, a boutique, a restaurant and a living room with beautifully decorated walls. All the buildings are made with local bricks covered by hand-spread clay plaster as used in the Nubian area.
