E Unoto Lodge

E Unoto Lodge is located in a beautiful natural setting overlooking the papyrus-bound Lake Miwaleni, whilst the Great Rift escarpment stands boldly above. The lodge consists of 25 Masai-style bungalows placed at various heights up the escarpment.

The bungalows are big and have comfortable chunky wooden beds, leather armchairs, en-suite bathrooms and large open-air verandas from which you can admire the attractive views down to the lake.

The communal part of the lodge includes a bar and swimming pool perched impressively on the rocks above the lake.

Activities include horse-riding, mountain biking, fishing, guided walking around the lake and challenging half-day treks to the top of the escarpment.

E Unoto is a well-equipped lodge with modern facilities and an interesting array of things to do.

But its most impressive achievement is to have created all this while maintaining an authentic "Tanzanian Masai" atmosphere.

As well as being wholly staffed by Masai, the lodge has strong links to the local community for which it provides valuable revenue.

In summary; E Unoto really is very different from anything else in the Lake Manyara region, and it is well worth the 10 kilometres of bumpy driving from the main road to get to it!
