Perched on the rim of the collapsed volcano, the Ngorongoro Crater, a world heritage site, often referred to as the eighth wonder of the world.
It has the most magnificent views over the crater floor, which is home to vast herds of buffalo, wildebeest, zebra, the rare and endangered black rhino, elephant, cheetah, leopard, lion and herds of gazelle and wildebeest.
Its position on the Eastern rim allows the most spectacular and uninterrupted views of the sunset.
Children not averse to an invigorating dip will enjoy the impressive crystal blue swimming pool and its surrounding lawns that overlook the crater. Built along the crater rim, the rooms are spacious (with plenty of room for a third bed if necessary) and have central heating, en suite bathrooms and a private balcony from which you can gaze down into the crater, or admire the sun setting over the western horizon.
All in all, this lodge offers very good value and it is a fine safari base for a stay at the Ngorongoro crater.
