Balloon Safaris in the Serengeti
Balloon Safaris are ideally suited to the Serengeti as the open treeless plains allow many of the animals to be seen from the air - and viewed from an altitude of several thousand feet - the savannah scenery is breathtaking.
Serengeti balloon flights take off just before dawn so that you are high above the plains in time for sunrise. The flights lasts for approximately one hour drifting wherever the air currents take you. Once back on terra firma, the balloon safari is celebrated with a glass of sparkling champagne and a breakfast in the bush which is often cooked on the balloons burners.
After breakfast the rest of the morning is spent game viewing in a 4x4 vehicle, before returning to camp in time for lunch.
Balloon Safaris in the Serengeti is only available from the Serengeti Serena Lodge, and the Serengeti Sopa Lodge, and Mbuze Mawe – because these are the only lodges close enough to get to visitors to the launch site in time for the 5.30am take off.
