The wildlife in this area is generally very good, and the camp is less than three kilometres from the Mwanamboga waterhole – which offers arguably the best game viewing in the park.
Game drives are conducted in 4x4 vehicles accompanied by one of the lodge’s guides. The camp is run by the Fox family (who also run Ruaha River Lodge) and the food here is delicious, as most of the produce comes from the family farm in the highlands.
Full day safari excursions to the Udzungwa Mountains National Park are also possible. The Udzungwa rainforests are home to remarkable bird, animal and plant life and it is well worth adding a day of trekking here during your holiday.
Stanley’s Kopje Camp is an ideal location if you are short on time but long on an adventure. Its accessibility also makes it an attractive destination for any start to the southern safari circuit.
Clients can take advantage of an extended stay by staying at the sister camp - Vuma Hills Camp for a different experience. After an early morning wake up call and hot coffee or tea, one departs in 4×4 safari vehicle scouting for wild life.
The early morning animal movements are a sight worth seeing with antelope, buffalo and elephants parading to the watering holes before embarking on a day’s worth of grazing.
