Beho Beho
Beho Beho Camp gets its name from the Swahili word for 'Pioneer' and was the first camp to be built in the northern sector of the Selous game reserve. As a consequence it has an excellent location - positioned along the Namikwera Hill enjoying panoramic views of the Rufiji River floodplain and surrounding bush.
Beho Beho Camp has 8 stunning thatch and stone cottages. They are huge and exquisitely decorated with Persian rugs, Zanzibari beds (with possibly the most comfortable pillows in Africa) and lots of interesting wildlife books. Each banda has its own telescope, writing desk and spacious bathroom with a walk-in shower. The front of the banda is totally open and extends on to a spacious veranda.
The main part of Beho Beho is equally impressive. Open plan in design, it has expansive views of the baobab strewn bush and a stone path leads down to a small swimming pool and terrace. The food here also has one reaching for the superlatives. Healthy fresh salads, tasty game meat and local specialities like prawn piri piri, are regularly served in either the dining area, one of the several lookouts or - in the evenings - sitting out under the stars.
Holiday activities at Beho Beho include game walks, full day game drives, picnics in the bush and boat trips are all on offer and what you do (including just relaxing at the lodge) is entirely up to you.
