Tanzania Adventure Honeymoon

A two week Tanzania honeymoon split into two parts.  Week one offers a safari adventure in the Kilimanjaro, Serengeti, the Ngorongoro Crater areas.  This is week is not about luxurious accommodation, instead the focus is 100% on optimising wildlife viewing whilst travelling in your own 4 x 4 safari vehicle.  The second week is at the remote and unspoilt Tides Beach Lodge - on the mainland coast of Tanzania.  Rated by the Sunday Times as one of the Top 6 Secret Beaches of the World.

Do note... This is not an 'off-the-shelf' honeymoon, far from it.  It offers real adventure, and a chance to visit one of the few remaining unspoilt sections of the Indian Ocean Coastline.

Itinerary

Day 1
Check in at the Kenya Airways desk at London Heathrow for your overnight flight to Nairobi.

Day 2
On arrival into Nairobi, transfer onto Kenya Airways flight to Kilimanjaro (50 mins).  On arrival you will be met by your private safari driver/guide.  You will depart in your private 4x4 vehicle for Lake Manyara National Park (2.5 hrs) and spend rest of the day game viewing.  In the evening, exit the park and stay your first night at Kirurumu Lodge (all meals & game viewing activities included).

Day 3
After breakfast depart by road for the Ngorongoro Conservation Area (1.5 hrs).  Spend the rest of the day wildlife viewing in the Ngorongoro Crater itself.  The crater itself is relatively small in diameter (15 kms across) but the terrain it encloses is remarkably diverse - forests, soda lake, open savannah, swamps and scrubland.

At the end of the day drive out of the crater, and stay for one night at the Plantation Lodge (all meals & game viewing activities included).

Day 4
After breakfast depart by road for the central Serengeti via Olduvai Gorge visitor centre and (if there is time) the interesting Shifting Sands.  Spend the rest of the day game viewing and then arrive at the Serengeti Serena Lodge or Mbuze Mawe Camp (add £130pp to overall holiday price) to stay for three nights with all meals and game viewing activities included.

Day 5 & 6
Full days game viewing in the Serengeti.  When visiting Serengeti, it is very important to stay in the right place, as different areas offer good wildlife viewing at different times of year. 

The Serengeti Serena (and Mbuzi Mawe) are centrally located, allowing access to the western corridor of the Serengeti (good wildlife in May, June, July), the northern corridor (wildebeest migration best here in July / Aug) and the southern sector near Ndutu (good in Dec, through to March). 

The central part of the Serengeti (area called Seronera) also has fantastic year round game viewing - some of the best in Africa in fact (the wildebeest migration is not the be all and end all!).

Now here is the important bit - as you will have your own private vehicle & guide, you will be able to go wherever the wildlife viewing is best!

Day 7
After breakfast you be dropped at the airstrip for a light aircraft flight from the central Serengeti back Arusha or Kilimanjaro.  This flight takes approximately 1 hour, and goes directly over the Ngorongoro Crater.  If its a clear day, you should be treated to a wonderful birdseye view into the crater.

On arrival at 13h00, transfer immediately to the connecting flight to Pangani on the Tanzania's Indian Ocean coast .  On arrival at 15h00 you will be met and transferred (15 mins) to Tides Beach Lodge to stay for the next seven* nights in sea front beach cottage with breakfast & dinner included.

»  Add or subtract nights at Tides Beach Lodge for £90 per person per night.

Day 8 - 13
Full days to relax on the unspoilt beaches at Tides Beach Lodge. 

Apart from sunbathing by the pool or on the beach, things to do include, snorkelling, scuba diving, sea kayaking, boogie boarding, deep sea fishing, windsurfing and kitesurfing, bicycle hire, dhow sailing to nearby Maziwe Island (where the hotel can set up a lovely private beach picnic - recommended). 

Day 14
Day at leisure. In the afternoon, you will be dropped off at the airstrip in time for the short scheduled flight back to Kilimanjaro airport (50 mins).  From here transfer onto Kenya Airways flight Nairobi (1 hour) and then overnight to London

Day 15
Arrive into London at approx 06h30.  The End!!

Price includes all international* and domestic flights plus air taxes, accommodation on a shared basis, park fees, a private driver / guide & 4x4 vehicle, transfers and meals & activities as indicated above.

*These prices are based on the best available fares on international flights.  If you are booking very close to your intended date of depature, then please note, that the airfare component of the holiday may increase in cost.
